For the shared parts of our career, we worked as guides in different Wilderness therapy programs. This gave both of us the opportunity to spend weeks at a time working with clients in small groups and individually while seeing the benefits and depth of support nature can provide through its resources.
At Amazing Brains, we are lucky to have our offices in beautiful Colorado. While most of what we do is Neuro and Biofeedback and requires that we are inside and on a computer, we also have the option to go outside for our counseling sessions. This can look like a lot of things from walking a path or sitting by a river. Often that choice is navigated by the needs or desires of the client. This can be very helpful in the process therapy for a variety of reasons. Some of the main benefits are that movement in the body and walking side by side can help people to move the built-up stress in their bodies with reduced intensity. Neurologically just 20 min of outside time creates a significant reduction in stress, anxiety, and depression. While improving mental well being, cognitive function, and heart health.
While this sounds great and usually is, there are a few things to consider. Before we go out.

Did you know we did therapy in the outdoors? Did you know there is more than one way to do that?
